Hello.
This is Aikuchi.
Have you ever experienced that “the inside of the cage dries out quickly,” “it is difficult to mist the cage frequently,” or “the cage is now caged in a wet shelter” during the winter?
This time, I would like to introduce a solution to such problems.
Surely we will see leopard geckos and fat-tailed geckos living spontaneously outside of their shelters even in winter!
See the following article on maintaining temperatures in winter.
Surprising disadvantages of misting.
Many people use a misting spray to keep the inside of the Leopard Geckos and Fat Tail Geckos’ cages from drying out.
I also use it because it is very convenient because I can quickly raise the humidity level.
On the other hand, sudden changes in humidity can cause stress.
Also, the sound of misting and the method of moving them outside every time they are misted can stress them out and may cause them to become timid.
If the organism has become accustomed to the breeding environment to some extent, there should not be much of a problem.
However, if the animal is new and unfamiliar to us, we recommend humidity control to minimize environmental changes.
For the Leopard Geckos and Fat-tailed Geckos to develop a brazen personality, the environment in which they are raised is more important than anything else.

Put a wet sponge in the cage.
This is the most recommended method.
Simply place the wet sponge where it will not be disturbed.
Cut to fit the size of the cage.
Compared to misting, humidity rises gradually, so there are no sudden changes in humidity, and humidity can be maintained for long periods of time, making it easy and gentle on living organisms.
When it dries out, water is simply poured over the top and absorbed by the sponge, so there is no need to repeatedly evacuate the organisms to the outside.
It is also moderately rough and contains moisture, which aids in molting.
Change the soil to one that is more absorbent.
We recommend that organisms that are not particularly good at dehulling their fingertips may naturally peel off when they are on the sponge.
Compared to kitchen paper, the special soil is very absorbent and retains moisture well.
It is highly recommended to only let it absorb water once to maintain humidity for a long time and to reduce the frequency of misting.
When misting, do not just mist the surface, but dig down a few centimeters to the bottom for longer-lasting moisture retention.
However, avoid spraying in areas where poop is always present.
Here are some recommendations.
It is my favorite product, not only for its moisturizing ability, but also for its appearance, deodorizing ability, and maintainability.

Change the water dish.
It is also recommended to place a wide, shallow water dish that can hold more water.
The larger the surface that the water comes in contact with the air, the more moisture it will retain.
However, the drawback is that the moisture retention is not as dramatic as it would be for the space it takes up.
Increase the humidity in the room itself.
As a matter of course, the drier the room in which the cage is located, the lower the humidity in the cage.
In winter, it is recommended to think about the humidity in the room, such as drying the cage in the room or putting a humidifier in the room.
I recently bought an air purifier with a humidifier as a measure against room dryness and rhinitis.
I bought an air purifier with a humidifier to prevent dryness and rhinitis in my room.
It not only improves my own quality of life, but also has many other benefits for keeping leopard geckos and fat-tailed geckos.
